The practitioners at Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics in Dallas, Fort Worth and the Texas area stay up to date with the latest, most innovative technology through continuing education courses and seminars. Combining new technology with our extensive knowledge and experience ensures that the client is provided the best outcomes possible. We routinely provide prosthetic components that incorporate the use of microprocessors such as the Össur Rheo and Ottobock X3 knees. Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics was the first facility in North Texas to successfully fit the Ottobock Genium when it was initially released. By working closely with our prosthetic distributors, our clients have the ability to trial different components to determine if they will have a positive impact on their lives.

Lower Extremity

Through the use of a detailed evaluation process, our clinicians work closely with each client to determine the needs and goals of the individual. We understand that every person’s goals are different, but every goal is extremely important. At Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics, we truly believe in a team approach and feel very fortunate to work closely with some outstanding physical therapists who specialize in gait training. By utilizing physical therapy, the individual is able to reach and exceed their ambulatory goals.

Unique Suspension Solutions

The practitioners at Baker are consistently thinking “outside of the box” to find solutions to best suit the needs of their clients. Through the use of sub atmospheric pressure or elevated vacuum, both above knee and below knee amputees can be provided a whole new world of suspension options.

Upper Extremity

The nature, use and size of Upper Extremity prosthetic limbs require techniques that are hard to find among practitioners. Our Upper Extremity Specialists are skilled in the design and fitting of prosthetic arms for any amputation level. We are experienced and accredited to fit the newest electronic devices, including the Dynamic Elbow, which automatically balances the forearm, and the new i-LIMB hand which features with independently- powered fingers.

Expedited Services

Traveling can become an expensive and cumbersome process, which is why Baker O&P offers expedited services to clients who reside in different areas. Our clinical team will work diligently to provide excellent care, which may include combining several appointments into one day. Additionally, for those who are unable to visit our office in person, we now have a mobile clinic available to assist as you reintegrate into the community.


Understanding the proper treatment modality is of the utmost importance when providing orthotic care.  The attending practitioner will formulate a treatment plan to best suit the individual’s needs both immediately and long term.  Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics provides a wide variety of orthotic devices for every segment of the body.  By providing the latest innovations such as stance-control KAFOs and the PRO (Perfect Response Orthotic) AFO, ultra-light weight components and low-profile designs, the client’s goals can be obtained.


Baker Brace Custom Carbon AFOs

Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics has developed a unique Pre-preg carbon fiber fabrication technique that allows each brace to be customized to the specific needs of each patient. We rely on our experienced team of certified orthotists and technicians to design the orthosis to reach the desired functional goals. The custom carbon fiber AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) is lightweight, durable, and designed with a dynamic beam, providing energy return to reduce energy expenditure for everyday walking.


Development of Dynamic Carbon AFOs

Pre-Preg carbon fiber AFOs have been available in the market for many years, providing an alternative to the traditional thermoplastic and conventional metal and leather devices. Up until recently, the only pre-preg carbon AFO options were the prefabricated or off-the-shelf devices. While these are good for providing the dynamic response and treating some mild anterior and posterior compartment weakness, they aren’t for everyone. Many were not candidates because the prefabricated designs did not provide adequate support or control and were unable to accommodate or correct deformities.  Baker Orthotics & Prosthetics has developed a unique fabrication process to provide the dynamic response benefits of pre-preg carbon with the biomechanical alignment benefits of traditional orthotic alternatives.  There are other providers and manufacturers who have also developed their own custom carbon techniques, but they typically require significant out of pocket expense and rarely work with most insurance providers. Baker has experience working with multiple different insurance providers to ensure that this orthotic option is financially accessible to most people.  Baker O&P began custom carbon orthotic fabrication in 2014 and has a team dedicated to the research and development of the design to continuously improve and help patients reach maximum functional potential.

WCR Scoliosis Bracing

The Wood Cheneau Rigo brace is a thermoplastic scoliosis brace fabricated from a hyper-corrected positive model of the patient. The design of the WCR brace includes multiple three-point pressure systems and significant pressure and expansion areas, providing correction in all three anatomical planes. Alternating areas of pressure and relief in the WCR brace encourage dynamic curve correction, as patients rotate away from pressure areas and into expansion areas with each breath.

The WCR brace is hand-modified and fabricated by Grant Wood, CO. Each patient’s curve type is classified based on the patient’s x-rays and clinical photos. Dr. Rigo is personally consulted on challenging WCR brace cases for verification of the patient’s curve classification and scoliosis brace design. This multi-disciplinary approach involving the patient, their family, physicians, Schroth therapists, and orthotists optimizes patient results.

Studies have demonstrated that the Rigo brace and Cheneau brace both improve and stabilize the deformity.1-2 Grant Wood found in his 2003 thesis that the Cheneau brace led to decreased lateral deviation, vertebral rotation, and major cobb angles at the termination of orthotic treatment. A 2017 study found that “Patients treated with RCOs compared with Boston-style TLSOs had similar baseline characteristics and brace wear time, yet significantly lower rates of spinal surgery.”3 The Wood Cheneau Rigo maximizes the patient’s chances of orthotic success, while maintaining a sleek, low-profile design that encourages compliance.

During her residency, Baker Orthotist/Prosthetist Megan Glahn worked directly under Grant Wood at Align Clinic and received her WCR Certification. Her time with Grant has equipped her with the tools and knowledge needed to provide WCR braces and uphold their prestigious reputation. Megan has a background in coaching competitive gymnastics and enjoys coaching her patients through the bracing process. She is particularly interested in the psychological side of bracing, which is the focus of her research.

Hospital Specialists

We know that certain circumstances require us to go outside of our offices to work with people in a hospital setting. We have working relationships with many area hospitals and residential facilities and fit devices for at those residences.
Orthotic and prosthetic users encounter emergencies just like everyone else. That’s why we are available for emergency on-call after business hours, on weekends and holidays.
